When recently in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, I had the pleasure of seeing this fabulous Odeon cinema designed by the renowned architect, Harry Weedon, in 1936.  The cinema has been in continual use for nearly 80 years and is arguably one of Britain’s finest art deco buildings in the country. There are various other Odeon cinema buildings throughout the country designed by Harry Weedon, including Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, Weston-super-Mare in Somerset and Morecambe in Lancashire, which all share similar features but are also specifically unique and in some ways showcases the importance of cinema in the 1930s.
