When recently driving from London to Chichester, I decided to take the most direct route rather than using the quicker main road to West Sussex.  This allows me the opportunity to not only view the English countryside, but also the potential to add photographs to some of my ongoing projects – ‘Roadside Britain’ or ‘Nation of Shopkeepers’. This fascinating old-fashioned garage has been in the same location for more than a hundred years, starting its life as a coaching station with horses and carts.  The current owner has been at Redford Garage for over twenty years and although they no longer retail petrol they do still sell red diesel given the rural location – and it does appear the surrounding countryside is attempting to reclaim the site judging by the interior!
