The other week I had the amazing opportunity to visit a decommissioned electricity power station at Fawley, near Southampton.  A good friend is involved with development plans for the site – yet to be determined – and in the meantime I was allowed to photograph the redundant site, part of which is this incredible period control centre.  The Fawley Power Station was completed in the late 1960s, perfectly demonstrated in this fabulous interior, but never really operated at full capacity, as it was designed to use heavy oil from a nearby refinery, but unfortunately the oil crisis of the early 1970s made this uneconomic.
